Gentry Park Senior Living Plant Operations Allows No Slip Ups With Building Safety

Category: Health & Wellness

Author: Tommy Hausz, Plant Operations Director

Building Safety Month takes place in May every year and is internationally recognized for raising awareness in keeping buildings safe.

This initiative unites industries, associations, academia, and government under a common goal to protect the public by creating a safe and resilient environment. Our primary focus as the Plant Operations Team at Gentry Park Senior Living Bloomington, IN is keeping our residents, visitors, and staff safe.

There are certain tasks that we perform daily to safeguard our community. We check the water temperatures as well as room temperatures. Rounds are made with the infection control gun. We also check the doors to make sure the alarm sounds, as it should.

My role as Plant Operations Director and building safety certainly intertwine. I am very proud that our staff and residents are happy and safe. We do an elopement drill and fire drill monthly; the participation in these events is very good.

I use my building safety expertise at home by making sure things are working correctly, like checking the smoke detector and carbon monoxide weekly. I also open the electrical panel and feel if the area around the breakers is warm or hot.
